    The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) was established in February 2011 by the Federal Government of Nigeria for the public benefit and it is recognized globally. Throughout our great history, FULafia has offered access to a wide range of academic opportunities. The Federal University of Lafia and the other eight federal Universities established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2011 are its response to the need for rapid socio-economic transformation as well as addressing issues of access and equity

    The pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University was Professor Ekanem Ikpi Braide and the current Vice Chancellor is Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman. The Federal University Lafia started with an initial student population of 243 at the commencement of academic activities in 2012, which has now increased to over 5000 in the 2018/2019 academic session
